We want to hear your lived experience

The Lived Experience Community is made up of adults from all over Victoria who want to use their experience of an eating disorder to support others in recovery and contribute to a better eating disorder service system. Members of the Lived Experience Community share their insights with EDV on a volunteer basis.

If you are currently in recovery from an eating disorder, have recovered from an eating disorder or have cared for someone with an eating disorder, we would love to hear from you.

What does EDV's Lived Experience Community do?

Lived Experience Community members support the work of EDV in a number of ways. This includes:

  • Attending round table discussions on important issues relating to EDV’s service delivery and advocacy
  • Taking part in focus groups that inform the development of new services and innovations
  • Contributing to publications through guest blog posts and recovery stories
  • Being involved in media opportunities

How much of my time will it take?

Opportunities to get involved are always opt-in. You will be informed of opportunities via email, and it is up to you what you choose to take part in.

No specific commitment time that is required.

Do I need to be fully recovered to take part?

No, you don’t need to be fully recovered to contribute to the Lived Experience Community. It’s important that we hear from people who are actively in the recovery process.

We do ask however that anyone who contributes to the Lived Experience Community is in a place where they are recovery focused and hopeful.

Do I need to live in Melbourne to participate?

No, we welcome people who live all over Victoria to sign up. Whilst there are opportunities for in-person sessions, we also utilize online surveys, phone calls and email contributions.
