Caregiving Experience Among Family Members of Individuals with Eating Disorders

Research from Fairleigh Dickenson University

Aims and Background: We are examining the experience of family members of individuals with restrictive eating disorders. We hope that this information will help us as well as future therapists minimize any stress in family members.

Recruitment Process and Participation:
– To be eligible, you must be a the sibling (11-18 years old) or parent of a child (11-18 years old) who has anorexia nervosa or other-specified feeding and eating disorder with restriction.
– Upon enrolling in the study, you will complete a questionnaire (online) asking about personal information (e.g., age, gender, etc.) as well as questionnaires asking about symptoms and experiences related to eating disorders. For example, you will be asked how often you feel angry, or how often there is tension during meal times.
– We anticipate that your participation in the study should take approximately 15-20 minutes.
– It is estimated that 62 families will participate in this study.
