Warrnambool Building Hope Workshop (WARRNAMBOOL)

Date: Commencing Saturday 6 March 2010 continuing 13/03/10 and 20/03/10
Time: Registration at 1.45pm for a prompt start at 2pm til 6pm
Cost: $93.50 per person or $137.50 (inc GST) per couple for the 3 week program and includes handouts and free EDV membership for 1 year

The Building Hope Workshop comprises 3 x 4hr sessions over 3 weeks for Partners, Family Members, Friends and Parents of a person with an eating disorder to learn new skills.

This workshop builds empathy, promotes understanding, shows you how to use reflective listening skills, recognises that consistent, compassionate and calm communication assists your loved one with recovery and a collaborative problem solving approach enhances the idea that change is possible.

To enhance your learning in the workshop we strongly recommend you read "Skills Based Learning for Caring for a Loved One with an Eating Disorder" by Prof Janet Treasure et al.  The workshop is based on Professor Treasure's research on the motivational style of treatment of people with an eating disorder.

2010 Eating Disorders International Conference (LONDON, UK)

Presenters:
The conference is being held by the Centre for Eating and Dieting Disorders (CEDD), the Children's Hospital Westmead Eating Disorder Team and the Centre for Research into Adolescent Health, with support from The Mental Health Council of Australia.

The two-day event will feature a number of renown international speakers, local experts, professionals and carers and will include several keynote talks, workshops and panel discussions regarding the implications of latest research and will be of interest to both parents and professionals.

The 2010 Eating Disorders International Conference (EDIC) programme will be of relevance to psychiatrists, general practitioners, psychologists, clinicians, nurses and AHP's such as counsellors, dietitians and occupational therapists working in the field of eating disorders. This workshop will provide an experience of the language of mindfulness; mindful eating principles; skills of mindful eating (including keeping a mindful eating journal, mindful shopping and preparation, arriving at a meal, eating a mindful meal, expanding your eating horizons); mindful craving control; and mindful stress management.

The emphasis is on practical skills training so the morning will be punctuated with opportunities to practise mindful eating as well as other small and large group experiential exercises and discussions.
