Support Officer for Family, Friends and Partners
Trying to support someone with an eating disorder can be a very lonely, frustrating and difficult experience for friends, partners, families and carers. It can feel quite overwhelming at times, trying to understand the complexities of eating disorders and then working out what to do about it. Families often talk about feeling like they are walking on egg shells and live with the fear and uncertainty of not knowing what's around the corner.
Sometimes it can be helpful to talk to someone in person, who can listen and be there for you, as well as explore different pathways to recovery. This service is particularly helpful to those who find it difficult to express themselves over the phone and prefer to talk face to face with someone about what is going on.
Families, carers and friends can make an appointment to see the Support Officer Helen Franks– by calling the Helpline on (03) 9885 0318 or non metro 1300 550 236. Appointments are available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays during business hours. Phone appointments are also available. This is a free and confidential service.
