Enabling Java
To use the chat room you must have java enabled in your browser. To do this select your browser version from the list below and follow the instructions.

Sending Your Message For Others To Read
To type out your message enter your text in the text entry box at the bottom of the chat screen and press either ‘Send’ or the enter button

To Make Text Bold
To make your text bold you need to select the B button at the bottom of the text entry area box and press it. This will make your text appear bold

To Make Text Italicised
To make your text italicised you need to select the I button at the bottom of the text entry area box and press it. This will make your text appear in italics

To Change The Colour Of Your Text
To make your text coloured you need to select the button that has four coloured squares in it at the bottom of the text entry area box and press it. This will open a new window with text colour options in it. Select either a colour from here or select “Other Colours” and select a colour from in here. This will make your text appear coloured.

To Add An Emoticon
Click on the ‘smiley’ face button at the bottom of the text entry box area. You can select an emoticon from in here or select to “See More Images”, you can select an emoticon from both places. When you click on the emoticon the code for that emoticon will appear in your text entry box area. Press “Send” and the image will appear in the chat room.

Float/Un-Float The Chat
Clicking the button to float/un-float the chat room expands and compacts the chat room. The window that opens when you first enter chat is the floated version of the chat room, if you click on the float/un-float the chat room the chat room will open in a new window and will fill the entire screen.

My Control Panel
If you click on the button for the Control Panel it will open a new window that will allow you to select colours, icons and font sizes

Changing Rooms
To change rooms click on the button called “Rooms” then double click on the room you wish to enter. You will log out of the room you were in and log into the room you have selected. If all of the rooms do not display press the “Refresh” button at the bottom of this list.

Viewing Who Is Online
To view who is online click on the button called “Users” this lists all users who are online and in your room.
