Family & Friends (Carers)
It’s important to get help and support for yourself as a carer.  The EDFV support, referral and information service, and support groups for family and friends can provide useful support and information.

General Information for carers about public mental health services and support for carers is included in a Victorian government booklet called Information for Families and Carers of People with a Mental Illness . The booklet is available in several languages.  The Carers Association of Victoria provides information for carers and a Carer Counselling service.  Telephone Counselling is provided free of charge. Ph 1800 242 636 Mon – Fri 9am – 5pm.  Short term face-to-face counselling appointments are also  provided at a low cost.
