The following recovery story was written for the EDFV Newsletter Spread Your Wings , by a volunteer with the Foundation.
"Mirror, mirror on the wall, am I thin and beautiful?"
"No. You are so fat and unattractive. Take a close look at those curves. Your stomach, your legs, your thighs, your body has fat dripping all over and trust me, you are far from being thin, beautiful and drop-dead gorgeous."
"The mirror is honest. I'm so overweight. I'll never be happy until l lose more weight."
Every time I glanced into the mirror, all I could see was a reflection of this girl who was fat, ugly, unsuccessful and a failure at everything. She was insecure, depressed and in overwhelming emotional pain. Bulimia was her only best friend. It offered her comfort and support in times of desperate need. Only it was a friend which took over her life and turned it into a mockery. Yes! That girl was me.
My journey on the rollercoaster with Bulimia all began in the second year of my university life. Here's the story! |
