The Eating Disorders Helpline
The Eating Disorders Helpline is the first point of contact with support and information for thousands of people with an eating disorder, their families and friends.
The Hairhouse Warehouse is a generous supporter of the Eating Disorders Helpline.
The Eating Disorders Helpline is currently a shared service for three state-based eating disorder support services: Eating Disorders Victoria, the Eating Disorders Association (QLD) and the Eating Disorders Association of South Australia. This means that when you call the Helpline, your call will be answered by one of these associations. Calls from other states are accepted and will be answered in Victoria. Wherever possible we will provide immediate assistance.

Please note: opening times for the Helpline will vary according to state and local time - please visit the appropriate website to find out details of opening times in your state. Callers from NSW may wish to note that NSW has its own helpline service provided by the Butterfly Foundation NSW office (formerly the Eating Disorders Foundation of NSW).
Eating Disorders Helpline - Victorian Service
The Eating Disorders Helpline (1300 550 236) operates from 9.30am to 5.00 pm Monday to Friday and is supported by well-trained voluntary advisors who understand the difficulties associated with eating disorders. Supervised by our Volunteer Services Coordinator, Marilyn, the Eating Disorders Helpline provides support to ALL those whose lives are affected by eating disorders, body image issues and disordered eating. The Helpline advisors also respond to email enquiries.
Your call is very important to us and we endeavour to respond immediately to all calls, however if you call at a time when we are on a high volume of calls, or outside our Helpline operating hours, you may receive the answering service. We encourage you to leave a message so we can return your call promptly. We will ALWAYS try to return calls within one working day. However, when returning your call we never say where we are calling from, and we will not leave a message on a landline answering machine, in order to protect your privacy and confidentiality. This means, if you haven’t heard back from us within one day, it simply means we were unable to contact you directly. In this case, please give us another call.
Email a Question
If you are not comfortable speaking over the phone, our Helpline advisors also attend to any questions or concerns you may have by email. To access this service, please email your questions to help@eatingdisorders.org.au. All questions will be treated as important and confidential. Please be aware our helpline hours are Monday to Friday 9.30am – 5.00pm, and telephone calls to our Helpline will always receive the top priority. During times of high demand it may take a little time to receive a reply to an email.
